| (from August 2014 Creases) An artistic movement has started in Augusta, one that looks to bring art and the artists behind them just a bit closer to the audience through live art installations. Creases had the opportunity to interview one of the members of this group, Jay Jacobs, about what they call, Art Bomba. |
For those unfamiliar with it, what is Art Bomba about?
Art Bomba is live painting in a public venue.
How can the public be apart of the movement?
The public gets to share in the experience of creating a piece and this live style of painting give insight to the creative process. You may see three different painters start paintings in three different ways and from that, someone who is interested in painting can get ideas on different ways to approach the creative process because I think inherently all artists are scavengers.
Where can we catch your next event?
The biggest one we do all year is Artzilla and that is coming up in September during Arts in the Heart . That is actually a three day long live painting event with 10 or more artists and the paintings that come out of that are amazing .
We have a smaller event on the 14th at Sky City, and after that event, I'm hoping to have at least a couple more smaller ones involving artists who have not had the opportunity to participate before. One night shows like that with live painting can be a great introduction Avenue for artists when you are sitting next to someone and you both are doing the same thing but coming from different directions a bridge is created and that's when collaborations and inspiration takes place and that is one way to really contribute to and help perpetuate a growing scene.
We created the Art Bomba Facebook page to keep both public and artists aware of any upcoming events so if someone wants to have an Art Bomba at their venue or if someone wants to paint that will act as a hub to keep dialogue open and people aware of where this is happening.
