C: What inspired you to create your artwork?
I’ve been doing art since I was a really little, my grandmother was an artist, and her grandmother was an artists, and my mom was an artist, it’s like three to four generations of art. It took me a long time to find my niche, for the stencils and my style.

C: Did their art style influence you?
I don’t know, it’s something that I just fell into. It was right at a time where I lost my mom and my dad, it was a really crucial point of my life. Then being inspired by street art and guerrilla art and things like that.

C: Is there any particular artist that awoke your love of stencil work?
Well Banksy obviously, but I was just seeing what could be done with multi layered stencils and I was blown away. My idea of stencils is very flat and two dimensional and it becomes like screen printing where you can build it however you want it.

C: You have a video of the Steve Martin piece online too
Oh right, yeah, and I have this memory from childhood, where Hello Kitty and Pink Panther were just be walking around floating and there was no detail in the background just simple details. I’ve been obsessed with repeat patterns and I started incorporating them into the background.

CR: I like the C-3P0 and R2-D2, they’re sorta floating.
Yeah they are, there’s no definition there.
CR: I like how [stencils are] instant you spray paint it, take it off and you’re done. Where as, painting with strokes, you have to stop and look at it, you might cover something up. It creates depth, when you use layers.
